How do I get rid of paid debits from my credit report?

I recently paid off 2 major debits %26amp; the collection companies sent me letters saying that I have paid my debuts they told me I can send them to the 3 Credit bureaus so they can take it off my report, how do I go about doing that? Please help I want to boost up my credit score.

I sure wish you had visited Yahoo Answers! before you paid off your debts.

The sad story is the collection agent lied to you (gasp!).

There are only two way a negative item can be deleted from your credit report.

1) The creditor fails to respond to a dispute investigation from the credit bureau.

2) The creditor must delete it himself.

Now that the collection agent has your money, there is very little incentive for them to help you out with your credit. And filing a dispute might work, but if the creditor verifies it you are stuck again.

This is why I tell people they must get the creditor to agree IN WRITING to delete the entry from their report before you pay them a dime. Then, if they don%26#039;t do it (like they are doing to you now) you have recourse to sue them for breach of contract.

Just note that if you send the letter they sent you to the credit bureau, the only thing that will happen is they will change the status to %26quot;paid%26quot; but it will still have negative information in it about late payments, charge-offs and collections.

Try calling the collection agent and see if they will help you. If not file a dispute.

Good luck, and don%26#039;t ever believe a collection agent in the future.
