What's the difference between fico score and the credit score.?

I had recently checked my credit score with 3 credit bureaus i had a low score from equifax, medium score on trans union and a high score on experian. and my fico score was high as well. JUst curious to find out why they are not even. The differnce between my equifax and experian was close to about 100 points! what can i do tochange this.. remeber that I%26#039;ve been paying bills as well as making cc payments on time, including paying over the minimum requirement. anyone have an answer !

What%26#039;s the difference between fico score and the credit score.?

A FICO score is your credit score, however not all credit scores are FICO scores. The 3 main credit bureaus each have their own credit scoring systems, as well as a FICO competitor called Vantage.

The FICO score is the only one that matters so far. When you go to buy a house, they are only checking FICO scores, not the other ones. If they offer to sell you your credit score, and it%26#039;s not FICO, don%26#039;t buy it, because it%26#039;s worthless.

There is typically some variation in the credit reports from each agency. Some have accounts not in others, some have errors, etc. Check each report and make sure everything is 100% accurate. Dispute any error, even tiny ones like your address. Once everything is 100% accurate, then get your FICO scores again. There still will be some variation, but usually far less than 100 points.

What%26#039;s the difference between fico score and the credit score.?

In my understanding, the credit score is the score each individual credit bureau gives you. The FICO is the entire credit report, including debt to income ratio, etc. The FICO is the important one. Keep doing what you are doing and it should catch up, but still request your reports to check for errors.

What%26#039;s the difference between fico score and the credit score.?

They are all just different companies. They have different info and they calculate differently. If you are planning to make a purchase, and the company you are buying through says anything, just tell them to pull another report from someone else. Usually they can and will

What%26#039;s the difference between fico score and the credit score.?

all your info does not go to all credit bereaus some buisnesses(credit cards etc.) use one of the three. you should always go with trans union they should have all your info on it from the other two credit bereaus.

What%26#039;s the difference between fico score and the credit score.?

One way to make your score go up is to have credit cards with no or low balances. If you pay off a credit card, you should leave the card open and not use it if you want your score to go up.

What%26#039;s the difference between fico score and the credit score.?

FICO is all three added together then divided by 3.

What%26#039;s the difference between fico score and the credit score.?

I once experienced something like this. My TransUnion score was much lower than the others. I ordered credit reports from all three bureaus and compared the info. - and lo and behold, my TransUnion report had some errors. I corrected them, and then it was fine.

Considering the big score difference, maybe this is what%26#039;s happened to you as well?

The three scores vary, but usually not by that much.

Can medical bills that are seriously past due allowed to affect your credit score?

I had just started a new job about 2 years ago and had to have emergency surgery to remove my gallbladder. I hadn%26#039;t completed the 90-day waiting period to receive my health care benefits. I had to have it done! It has racked up over $10,000 for the anesthesia, hospital stay, meds...etc. It is now appearing on my credit score and affecting me badly...I can%26#039;t buy a home or get a good rate on my auto loan...nothing. All I want to know is that if these collection agencies are allowed to put this on my credit score because it is something that I had no control over...IT HAD TO BE DONE. I am trying little by little to pay it down but overall they are considered negative accounts. Can I dispute this with the credit bureaus?? Anyone with any insight please help!

Can medical bills that are seriously past due allowed to affect your credit score?

You should visit the hospital and talk to the Billing Dept. Mgr. Explain your situation and ask for help:

1) A reduction in the total bill.

2) A new agreement that you will actually be able to meet for payment terms over a period of time that will fit within your budget. Do not agree to payments that you can%26#039;t keep up with.

3) Agreement that they will contact the credit reporting agency and advise them that you have negotiated new payment terms and requesting they delete the negative information. (They might not be willing to do this until you have had a few months of on-time payments. However, this would eventually improve your credit standing.)

4) If the Billing Dept. Mgr. will not cooperate, keep going up the chain of command until you get someone who will. Don%26#039;t give up. Hospitals can use discretion in these matters of public assistance. Note: It will not help to go to the credit reporting agency. They only report the facts.

Can medical bills that are seriously past due allowed to affect your credit score?

The collection agencies or the hospital, whatever, have every right to list that on your credit report. They don%26#039;t care how or why it happened. All they care about is that you pay them and pay them now.

Can medical bills that are seriously past due allowed to affect your credit score?

Credit reporting companies don%26#039;t care at all why you are late..thet just report that you are.

Can medical bills that are seriously past due allowed to affect your credit score?

Some hospitals have a program to help with medical bills before they get out of hand ,sometimes they have a few beds reserved for these situations (but you probably are to far gone for this benefit) it may help if you add a note to your credit report explaining your situation, keep making your payments on time and some credit granters will take this into consideration.....

Can medical bills that are seriously past due allowed to affect your credit score?

You need to apply for county or state assistance and prove indigency. If you cannot and are able to pay then it must be paid. You will be treated as someone who is neglecting paying the bill.

What you must do, if you cannot prove indigency, is contact the hospital and arrange a reasonable payment plan. It is important that you get the terms in writing and also have them agree to report your %26#039;on-time%26#039; payments to the credit bureau so that it can have a positive impact on your credit score.

Have all agreements sent to you in writing so you can have proof if needed in the future.

Can medical bills that are seriously past due allowed to affect your credit score?

Sorry to hear about your situation. The first thing to know is that if it is on your credit report, it is there for 7 years and no matter what you do, it will stay there.

The second thing is that every time you make a payment, the 7 years starts all over.

Call the hospital and see if they will agree to remove the collection and negative entry from all three credit bureaus in exchange for a payment plan. If so get the agreement in writing.

If not, leave the debt alone and stop making payments. (Everytime you make a payment the 7 year cycle starts again, so you are continuing to hurt your credit score.) The negative entry will age and the negative effects on the credit score will start to go away after a couple of years.

Can medical bills that are seriously past due allowed to affect your credit score?

They usually overlook medical accounts for FHA loans. I recommend Smart Choice Mortgage. They do business in most states and are your best opportunity for someone to say yes. Check out the free evaluation form at the source website and a Smart Choice loan officer will contact you within 24 hours. Good luck.

What are the credit bureaus to know what your credit score is and which one is the correct one?

All 3 credit bureaus use different credit scoring models. Many lenders utilize the middle credit score. Some lenders use a specific credit score for qualifying borrowers. There is not one correct one as they are all calculated differently. Not all creditors report to all 3 credit bureaus and this is one reason for the different scores as well. Read the credit blog below for more information on credit and credit scoring

What are the credit bureaus to know what your credit score is and which one is the correct one?

All three of them. different creditors use different ones.

What are the credit bureaus to know what your credit score is and which one is the correct one?

The US Government has mandated that the three major credit bureaus offer the service to everyone in the United States once each year. The name of this site is www.annualcreditreport.com.

Since it is government mandated it requires a whole host of hoops to jump through. You do not actually get your credit scores, and it can take 7-10 days to receive the information. All in all not very consumer friendly. Guess that is what happens when a big company is required to do something they do not want to do.

Here is how I got my Credit Report and Score from all 3 bureaus for free.

I went to http://faqfaq.net/FreeCreditReport.html and signed up for their service.

It took like 3 minutes! They give you 7 Days for Free to try the service.

So I just canceled the next day after printing out everything I needed.

Easy and Free.

Collection Account Transferred/Sold - can it be deleted from credit report?

A company I%26#039;ll call CA1 has my account listed as %26quot;account transferred/sold, charge off%26quot; on my credit report. I called CA1 to request info on this account and was told that it had been sold and to whom. I them called the new company, CA2, and after receiving an agreement in writing that they would not report, paid them off in full.

Since CA1 no longer owns this account, does this *have* to be deleted when I send in my request to the credit bureaus?

Everywhere I%26#039;ve looked for info this particular area seems vague, any help would be appreciated.

Collection Account Transferred/Sold - can it be deleted from credit report?

I%26#039;m guessing who you are calling CA1 is the original creditor and CA2 is the collection agency - since two collection agencies cannot legally report the same account at the same time.

Like the first poster stated, the original creditor has the right to keep reporting for the full 7 years. (but not from last activity, it would be 7 years from the first time you became 30 days late and never brought the account current leading to the charge off)

BUT, if both the original creditor and the collection agency are reporting, the original creditor MUST show a zero balance.

If the collection agency is still reporting and the original creditor is showing a balance, send a dispute to the credit reporting agencies on the original creditor.

If the original creditor is reporting any other inaccuracies, you have the legal right to dispute those also.

You might click on my profile and use the link I%26#039;ve provided for the FCRA and do some reading.

Good for you in requesting a pay for delete with the collection agency - and getting it in writing !!!!

edit++++++

Your account really got around didn%26#039;t it, lol

As long as the second and third CA1 are not legally known as collection agencies and the only one to actually charge off the account was the third CA1, then they would all be considered original creditors.

If that is so, then %26quot;all%26quot; of the CA1%26#039;s can legally have tradelines on your credit reports (as long as %26quot;everything%26quot; they report is reported correctly).

If the second or third CA1 purchased/was assigned the account %26quot;after%26quot; a charge off (or one or both are legally know as a collection agency) that would make one or both of them collection agencies, not original creditor(s)

If that is so, then one or both of them cannot legally have tradelines on your reports at the same time as the CA2 collection agency.

(hope this isn%26#039;t to confusing)

Collection Account Transferred/Sold - can it be deleted from credit report?

No it will remain on your report for 7 years from the date of last activity on your account, that is a payment or charge. The company did charge it off so it is a valid reporting and can not be removed.

When CA1 charged it off they leagally no longer owns the account and you have a 0 balance with them so there is nothing to report as paid on full on. However, once you pay off the collection account it should be noted as such for CA2. Sometimes it is possible to talk to CA1 and have them remove the negative remarks, but that is really rare and they probably will not do it for you.

Collection Account Transferred/Sold - can it be deleted from credit report?

this is a trick they try that is common... and illegal. check these links that will explain what to do as well as provides a sample letter to send.

1) run a free credit report from each agency (your allowed one free one per year, per agency). you need to know, so you need to get them.

2) if ID Theft has occured, you need to make a police report first. the rest of what you need to do, is listed in the links below (with GREAT info too).

3) some states allow you to %26#039;lock%26#039; or %26#039;freeze%26#039; credit reports; to protect against theft. if your state allows it, lock %26#039;em down. that way, no one can open an account on them.

4) once you discover their credit reports have activity on them, then contact each credit reporting agency (the 3 major ones) and report the ID Theft... and request the lock on the reports (usually they automatically do it, but ask for it anyway).

What will happen if I get a judgement against me for my credit card debt? (Location: CA)?

I have about $30,000 in unsecured debt that I accrued during college (credit cards, loans...). Now I%26#039;m working overseas and don%26#039;t make nearly enough to pay minimum payments. So I%26#039;ve let everything slide for 6 months (not proud of it). Recently my relatives have been getting calls from collection agencies looking for me. I don%26#039;t plan to return to the US for at least another 7 years, which is the time delinquencies are reported to the credit bureaus, so I%26#039;m not too concerned about my credit score. But I am concerned about my relatives being bothered by their attempts to locate me, since they don%26#039;t know about my debt. What would happen if they decide to sue me? How likely is it that they%26#039;ll sue me if I have no personal asset of any value, no employment (that they know of), and they can%26#039;t find me? How would they serve me with the lawsuit? I don%26#039;t wanna seem totally irresponsible, but I can%26#039;t possibly repay the amount (even in monthly payments) in my current situation.

What will happen if I get a judgement against me for my credit card debt? (Location: CA)?

Your credit is screwed for about 7 years until the record is expunged from your credit history. During those 7 years, no bank or creditor will finance you and your ability to secure any loans or credit cards will be gone. If you file for bankruptcy, the record stays for 10 years. If the creditors serve you with a court order and you decide to leave the country instead of answering the court order, they can get a warrant for your arrest, which means that as soon as you decide to come back to the USA, you will have federal marshalls waiting to arrest and extradite you to the state in which you are being sued. Think about what you are doing and if you are willing to become a fugitive. You cannot simply run away from being sued, because the courts will find you and issue summary judgement against you, and most likely will arrest you for failing to respond to the court order.

What will happen if I get a judgement against me for my credit card debt? (Location: CA)?

Excuse me, but running from a civil lawsuit is NOT a criminal act. All that happens is, the court presses a judgment against you %26quot;by default%26quot;. But from the sounds of it, if you showed up in court you%26#039;d probably still get a judgment against you anyway. Report It

What will happen if I get a judgement against me for my credit card debt? (Location: CA)?

Jail time.

What will happen if I get a judgement against me for my credit card debt? (Location: CA)?

Well actually that is a myth about the 7 years. It will follow much longer than that, because once the original creditor gives up on trying to collect a debt it is then sold to another collection company whom then starts the cycle all over again. Here is the good news for you...Since it was unsecured debt you might have a chance. I would suggest to contact Lonnie at l.burgen@rmcninc.com Let him know that David B referred you but just talk with him and he could probably help and make it go away and save your credit too... Good Luck...

What will happen if I get a judgement against me for my credit card debt? (Location: CA)?

They really can not do much. Tell your relatives to say you move to California and they never hear from you and if they keep calling they will turn them into the FBI for un-due harassment. Make sure they get the name and phone number of those calling and the time. If they call back, turn them in and sue them for mental duress. That help your relatives make some extra cash. In time the Credit Card Company will write it off as a loss as they do the Millions in Credit Card Fraud when cards are stolen. True, your credit be screwed, but, credit just a scam that plays on the Ego of people and those who want it now and then be too broke to have any more.

What will happen if I get a judgement against me for my credit card debt? (Location: CA)?

If they can%26#039;t find you or your income stream you are CLEAN; the judgement expires in 7 years.

If none of your family co-signed and you are an adult then it could be considered HARRASSMENT!

The initial loaner sold your debt to a bottom feeder, also know as factoring, for maybe a dime or less on the dollar. If they collect the FULL amount they are looking at $27K pure profit and they are NOT going to vanish easily.

There is some collection person chasing a $2.7K commission and the bosses are PUSHING. They will probably push it to a judgement and you just no show.

Now here is the BAD PART! If you were under legal age when you incurred the debt they MAY be able to go after your parents successfully and file a judgement agaist THEM, THAT WOULD SUCK POND WATER BIG TIME! If that happens do NOT come HOME because your parents and family are going to be PISSED!

Little lecture...you got the education, playing where ever you are playing and left DEBT that your FAMILY may have to assume on your behalf.

Just THINK!

Happy Holidays,

J

Depends on who is your creditors, how much for each and, how agressive they are.

Some creditors will write it off if they can%26#039;t find you for sometime. That will stay for 7 years.

Some will go to court. If the court can%26#039;t find you but, you have somekind of value(bank account, employment), they will garnish that.

Some will sell it to the other agency. This will be long before they give up(if ever).

As for your parents, they can simply ask for the name and business that is calling you. Then ask that they never call again.

It%26#039;s the law, they have to stop calling if they%26#039;re asked to stop(you, yourself can even tell them to stop). Once you tell them to stop calling, they will have to use other means to get to the debt.

go to www.moneymanagement.org they can help answer your question accurately.

What will happen if I get a judgement against me for my credit card debt? (Location: CA)?

If they sue you and obtain a judgment, you need to understand that California judgments are good for 10 years and can be renewed indefinitely. They also accrue 10% interest. If you have bank accounts or other property hear, a judgment creditor could go after it. In they do file a lawsuit and get a judgment, the amount due on the judgment would double to $60,000 after 7 years.

On the other hand, the creditor may do nothing. If they do not file a lawsuit with 4 years after your last payment, the claim is time barred.

What is the best card to apply for so I can build credit?

I am new to Yahoo answers.

This is my first question.

I have bad credit and need a card or several that reports to the credit bureaus.

Can you please send me a link to a place I can apply for a really good card that will help build my credit?

What is the best card to apply for so I can build credit?

http://www.secumd.org

SECU has a 12.9% secured, NO ANNUAL FEE credit card which requires a minimum deposit of $300 into a share savings account. If you have relatives who are members of SECU - you can become a member and take advantage of this opportunity. Good luck.

The first rule of holes -- if you%26#039;re digging yourself into a deep hole, STOP DIGGING (and throw out the shovel).

If you have bad credit then you will get cards that charge 20+% for the card, and 33% the first time you are a few minutes late with your payment (I%26#039;m not making that up -- a few minutes!!).

You will build your credit by paying off all of those bills on your credit history.

Finally -- Dave Ramsey is your friend. Get his book, read it, and then decide how to handle your money.

PS - I am not associated with DR in any way, I just know he has good stuff.

What is the best card to apply for so I can build credit?

Firstly clear any debts that remain. Then make a purchase on a one of those 12 months to pay plans and make the payments in full in that time. At least you will have a lounge to sit in or a refrigerator to show for it. Usually this will lead to good credit with a lender - then you can move onto a card.

What is the best card to apply for so I can build credit?

A secured card from a major company, such as Visa, MasterCard, AMEX, and Discover will work.

How can i damage my tenants credit rating of he hasn't paid rent?

He hasn%26#039;t paid in 2 months and I would like to know if there is anything I can do to the credit bureaus?

How can i damage my tenants credit rating of he hasn%26#039;t paid rent?

AFTER you start the legal clock - by giving your Tenant a 3 or 5 Day Notice to Quit or Pay rent.....you then can get the ball rolling (very quickly) for an eviction hearing.....Once you receive a Judgment.....includes amounts due plus court costs......Make sure you provide the court the tenant%26#039;s social security number....

Take the original Judgment to your County Recorder%26#039;s Office....Once recorded, the next time a credit bureau does a hard pull, your judgment will be added as a creditor to their credit report.

Depending on your state, you can then send a demand letter for full payment of the judgment and when they don%26#039;t pay, you get to garnish their wages!!!!! some states prohibit this, others allow it.

google your state and landlord/tenant laws.

How can i damage my tenants credit rating of he hasn%26#039;t paid rent?

File for a judgment, turn the judgment over to an atty. or a collection agency.

Simple rent and possession claim if the tenant is still in the unit. if not, small claims court.

In most states you must get them served with the subpoena to appear in court to get a judgment for money. You can get an eviction in most with a simple posting of the subpoena or notice to appear.

How can i damage my tenants credit rating of he hasn%26#039;t paid rent?

You can report it, just find the housing department in your area and they should be able to put you in the right direction. 1st step though is not allowing it, over 30 days late with us and they are served with a demand for possession letter (pick up at your local courts) and go after Non-payment of rent. At the 2 month mark you should be rid of them and on to suing for past rent and damages. NOTE EVERYTHING! Photos are a god-send!

How can i damage my tenants credit rating of he hasn%26#039;t paid rent?

Turn it over to a collection%26#039;s agency or evict him.

How can i damage my tenants credit rating of he hasn%26#039;t paid rent?

not at the bureau level. your nobody to them, but you can put a judgement against him and that will screw up his credit and is a pain in the a** to fix.

How can i damage my tenants credit rating of he hasn%26#039;t paid rent?

Getting back at them is a temptation that you probably shouldn%26#039;t waste your time on. If you go to small claims court and get a judgement against them for the unpaid rent, that will show up on their credit report. Judgements typically have to be paid before they would be approved to finance nearly anything. In the meantime, evict them and learn from the experience.

How can i damage my tenants credit rating of he hasn%26#039;t paid rent?

You should start eviction procedures now. This takes forever.
